Can I Do Hypnotherapy Over Zoom?

As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic made it necessary to change the way we work. Traditionally in-person tasks - therapy, catching up with family members, working in an office, performing music, etc. - were brought into the online sphere. When it came to my hypnotherapy in the Cotswolds, a number of clients assumed that this service would no longer be available due to the pandemic. It is generally thought that putting someone into a state of hypnosis can only happen when the client or practitioner are in the same room, but this is just not true.

In fact, even before the pandemic, many hypnotherapists in the Cotswolds and the world over were already conducting hypnotherapy online with their clients. Far from being just doable, hypnotherapy online is just as effective as in-person. I get exactly the same results on Zoom as I do for in-person sessions. Once you have your eyes closed, you don’t even notice.

But how, you might be wondering, does the process actually work?

Hypnotherapy Online

To start with, it is important that you find yourself a peaceful, quiet space where you can feel completely at ease, such as your bedroom or living room - anywhere that won’t have any distracting noises. You don’t necessarily need to lie down; sitting down is absolutely fine, as long as you are comfortable.

Most people who receive hypnotherapy use their laptops, and ideally your device should be positioned in a way that allows me to see you clearly. And, of course, you should make sure that you have a reliable internet connection. If your internet frequently drops out, it would be better to receive hypnotherapy at my Cotswolds practice instead.

Once you are in a quiet spot and feel comfortable, we will induce a state of hypnosis through relaxation techniques, with me working with you to gradually release the stress and worries that you are holding in your mind and body. It should be noted that the depth of the trance is not what enables the therapy to work; we can still access scenes and events from the subconscious while in a light trance. We are just reviewing the scenes; there is no reason for the client to be retraumatised. You will always be aware of what is happening and fully in control at all times.

Having brought you into this state of relaxation, we can then open up and work with your unconscious mind. With RTT therapy, we go deeper than regular hypnotherapy; sessions last longer and our focus will be on finding the root cause of the particular issue you are facing. At the end of the therapy, I’ll record a bespoke transformative hypnotic recording that you commit to listening to for at least month, as doing so makes the new beliefs more ingrained over time.

If you are thinking about hypnotherapy online, or would prefer to have face-to-face hypnotherapy in the Cotswolds, feel free to give me a call at any time and we will arrange an initial session.
