If you've been searching for a way to finally break free from anxiety, low confidence, feeling stuck, or patterns that keep holding you back — you may have come across RTT therapy and wondered what it actually is, and whether it really works.

In this post I'm going to explain exactly what RTT is, what happens in a session, and why it's one of the most powerful and fast-acting therapies available today.

What is RTT Therapy?

RTT stands for Rapid Transformational Therapy. It was developed by world-renowned therapist Marisa Peer and combines the most effective principles of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, NLP and cognitive behavioural therapy into one powerful method.

The word "rapid" is important. Unlike traditional talking therapy — which can take months or years to see results — RTT works by going directly to the root cause of your issue, often in a single session.

I trained directly with Marisa Peer in person and went on to become a trainer at her academy. I've seen first-hand just how transformative this work can be — not just for my clients, but in my own life too.

Why I Became an RTT Therapist

I came to RTT after my son was diagnosed with a rare kidney condition. The anxiety that followed was overwhelming — the kind that sits in your chest and won't let go, no matter how much you try to think your way out of it.

RTT changed that for me. I found it so powerful that I trained in it myself, and I've used it ever since to help others move through anxiety, self-doubt, emotional blocks and patterns that have kept them stuck for years.

That personal experience means I bring something to sessions that goes beyond technique — genuine empathy, and a deep understanding of what it feels like to be on the other side.

What Can RTT Help With?

RTT is effective for a wide range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • Overthinking and racing thoughts

  • Low confidence and self-esteem

  • Feeling stuck or lacking direction

  • Fears and phobias

  • Habits and repetitive patterns (including OCD behaviours)

  • Emotional exhaustion

  • Weight loss and relationship with food

  • Skin conditions

  • Money blocks and fear of success

  • Creative blocks

  • Business performance

  • Midlife transitions and finding purpose

How is RTT Different from Regular Hypnotherapy?

Regular hypnotherapy typically works by giving your subconscious positive suggestions while you're in a relaxed state. It's effective, but it works on the surface.

RTT goes deeper.

Think of it like this: if a weed keeps growing back in your garden, you can keep cutting it at the stem — but it will always return. The only way to get rid of it permanently is to pull it out by the roots.

RTT finds the roots.

What Happens in an RTT Session?

A session typically lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Here's what to expect:

1. We talk (around 20 minutes)

We start with a conversation about what you want to change and what's been holding you back. This helps me understand what we're working with before we go into hypnosis.

2. I guide you into hypnosis

Hypnosis is simply a deeply relaxed, focused state — you're always aware and always in control. Most people describe it as feeling like that moment just before you fall asleep, where your mind is quiet but your awareness is heightened.

3. We go to the root cause

This is where RTT is unique. Rather than staying in the present, I guide you back to at least three scenes from your past — not to relive them painfully, but to understand them. We find the beliefs and patterns that were formed in those moments.

Often these beliefs were formed in childhood, when we didn't have the understanding or resources we have now. A child who was told they weren't good enough might grow into an adult with crippling self-doubt — not because it's true, but because that belief got locked into the subconscious as fact.

4. We give the pattern a voice

We then bring forward the part of you that has been running this old programme — whether that's an OCD behaviour, a habit, or a protective mechanism — and we ask it what it's been trying to do for you. This is often a profound moment. Once you understand why a part of you has been behaving the way it has, you can work with it rather than against it.

5. We upgrade the child

We go back to those early scenes and release the child from them. You recognise that you are not that child anymore — you have resources, wisdom and perspective that child didn't have. You become the loving, supportive parent to that younger part of yourself.

6. We install new beliefs

We close the session by creating powerful new beliefs to replace the old ones. This is where the real transformation happens — we're essentially upgrading your operating system so it works smoother, and so every part of you is moving in the same direction.

What Happens After the Session?

After your session, I create a personalised hypnosis recording — around 15 to 20 minutes long — based on your specific session and the new beliefs we created together. This is unique to you.

I ask clients to listen to this recording every day for at least a month. For some issues — like weight loss — three months is better. This repetition is what embeds the new neural pathways and makes the changes permanent.

The subconscious mind learns through repetition. The recording does that work for you while you sleep, rest, or go about your day.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Most people see significant results from a single session. That's the beauty of RTT — because we go to the root cause rather than managing symptoms, one session can create profound and lasting change.

For more complex or longstanding issues — such as addiction, deep trauma, or patterns that have been present for decades — around three sessions is more typical.

Some clients also choose to add a coaching session after their RTT session for additional support as they integrate the changes into their daily life.

How Much Does RTT Cost?

  • Online RTT session (via Zoom): £200

  • In-person RTT session (Stroud, Cheltenham or Gloucester): £250

Each session includes your personalised hypnosis recording.

This is a one-off investment for most people — not an ongoing monthly cost. Compare that to years of weekly therapy sessions, and RTT represents extraordinary value for the depth of change it creates.

Is RTT Right for Me?

If you've tried other approaches — therapy, coaching, willpower, positive thinking — and found that something keeps pulling you back, RTT may be exactly what you need.

It works because it doesn't just address your thoughts or behaviour. It addresses the belief underneath — the one that's been quietly running the show.

The most common thing clients say after a session is: "I feel like a weight has been lifted."

If you're ready to find out what's been holding you back and finally let it go, I'd love to help.
